As if Dr Pepper didn’t have enough flavor packed into each syrupy sip, now the Texas-based beverage brand is pouring on the pink with the introduction of Dr Pepper Strawberries & Cream.
The brand also claims it’s the “new flavor you deserve.” I’m unclear about how anyone deserves a flavor, but I am clear about liking the campy nature of these TV ads. Let’s watch…
On the surface, a game show, a gender-revealing baby shower, and a pioneer-era oil field are weird and disparate settings for three ads in a campaign. The common denominator is the characters’ universal good cheer in the face of their newfound bounty, in this case, more Dr Pepper Strawberries & Cream than they could drink in a year.
Senior Vice President of Dr Pepper Brand Marketing, John Alvarado, says, “Dr Pepper Strawberries & Cream is an exciting evolution for our brand’s flavor portfolio. We can’t wait for people to try this delicious new treat.”
The new canned beverage joins Dr Pepper’s permanent lineup alongside varieties such as Dr Pepper & Cream Soda, Dr Pepper Cherry Vanilla, and Dr Pepper Zero Sugar.
