If there’s one true thing you say about digital marketing, it’s that any business, no matter how small, has a chance to use it to expand awareness and sales. But too many small businesses simply don’t have the time or resources to do digital properly. The simple lessons needed to ramp up digital marketing are found in Kevin Ryan and Rob “Spider” Graham’s new book Taking Down Goliath: Digital Marketing Strategies for Beating Competitors with 100 Times Your Spending Power.
What’s refreshing here is that Ryan and Graham don’t try to offer any magic solutions. They simply lay out the basics in an easy-to-read manner. Planning, creating and measuring digital campaigns are smartly covered, along with overviews of display, email, social, and search marketing. There aren’t any case studies to speak of, simply some basic common sense look at the world of digital marketing.
Let’s be honest, there are plenty of agencies and other firms willing to charge thousands of dollars throwing advice around to unsuspecting small businesses. A simple investment in Taking Down Goliath is all an entrepreneur needs to understand the basics of the digital world and get going.
