Scott Pruit, the Trump Administration’s scandal-plagued EPA Administrator was sent home to Oklahoma today. The incoming director has a cleanish slate, but Trump’s Earth-damaging policies are not about to change.
All of which makes today a great day to focus on the problem solvers who battle to preserve and restore nature and honor all living creatures every day, win, lose, or draw.
Define Steadfast: The Sierra Club
Did you know that the Sierra Club was founded in 1892, in San Francisco, California, by the Scottish-American preservationist John Muir?
Did you know that Sierra Club’s legendary Executive Director, David Brower, worked with legendary San Francisco ad man Howard Gossage to save the Grand Canyon from flooding by a dam? It’s true and thankfully the Sierra Club won that battle.
The Nature Conservancy Is In It To Win It
Since 1951, The Nature Conservancy has protected more than 119 million acres of land and thousands of miles of rivers worldwide — and the organization operates more than 100 marine conservation projects globally.
Recently, California Governor Jerry Brown said, “Nature is not a political game. Nature is the ground on which we stand, it’s the air which we breathe. The truth of the case is that there’s too much carbon being emitted, that heat-trapping gases are building up, the planet is warming and all hell is breaking loose.”
The need to radically alter our ways is clear. May we rise as one to meet this need. Failure, in this case, really is not an option.
