Common ground. It’s been missing in America, and we desperately need to regain this sacred space where all Americans are on more equal footing. With this need for community in the air, a private school in Southern California enlisted help from Aron Fried, who graduated from the school. The result is a charming commercial that sells the school and a whole lot more.
This is what Fried says about the spot on LinkedIn:
It’s not often I get to work on a project so near and dear to my heart. The Hebrew Academy of Orange County is where I went to school as a kid. It’s where I got my education base, enjoyed a safe, warm environment and where I met some of my best friends till this day. Many of the teachers there are Rabbis, and I can tell you this – in the end of the day, they’re just like us. We’re all human beings with more in common than we think – or look. Even in my own experience wearing a yarmulke at work, I’m sure people often wonder (innocently) if there will be common ground. This video is for the Hebrew Academy, but in a way it’s also for all of us who may look, act or dress a bit differently.
People who look, act, or dress a bit differently are individuals, and we love our individual freedoms in America. Or people claim to do that while clinging to group identity like it’s a life raft when it’s really an anchor.
Look…horses!
