Radio, like newspapers, is being hit with body blows from the internet.
Here’s the latest round:
iLike, a social network for music fans, is scoring big today with the pre-release of R.E.M.’s new album.
The roll-out, the first of its kind for a major act, will allow fans to stream and share Accelerate in its entirety beginning March 24, a week ahead of the album’s April 1 release date.
“It was one of those ideas that was presented to us and it seemed like a good one so we ran for it,” R.E.M. frontman Michael Stipe tells Billboard.com. He also noted that the way people embrace music “has certainly changed in the last 5 or 10 years. I think you can either go with it or sit back and watch it happen, and I would rather be out on the field than in the bleachers.”
The R.E.M band is one of my favourite bands. How could we neglect the smoothness found in their music. The band has its own style and its audience. And I’m one of thousands of people who love this band’s style. And this is remarkable in their concerts where it becomes so hard to get a ticket and prices become so high. Lately, a friend has recommended me a site where to compare ticket prices for free and I find it a great idea because this way one could look for the cheapest prices offered by ticket brokers.

You may not like the band but for me it’s different.
