Build it and they will come running towards you with their cash. That’s the digital daydream that so many people sell today, and so many more buy, myself included.
Now, GoDaddy, a purveyor of domain names and web hosting services, is peddling the idea that we can make the world we want, one pushed pixel at a time.
“Make the world you want. You’ve got the power, we’ve got the tools.”
GoDaddy’s line of copy is pretty when observed in isolation from reality. It’s also a good example of how creative executions can sometimes drift too far from the product’s true value.

The More Empty Platitudes, The Merrier
- The world isn’t black and white.
- When you’re stuck in someone else’s story, write your own.
- When you crave change in society, make it happen.
- Don’t stop for people who don’t understand your vision.
According to Ad Age, the work was made in-house at GoDaddy.
The people featured in the campaign were selected for their sizable online followings, and because they are real GoDaddy customers.
