Every year on May 3rd we celebrate the fundamental principles of press freedom and defend the media from attacks on their independence.
To mark World Press Freedom Day this year, Reporters Without Borders is launching a new “#FightFakeNews” campaign.
Reporters Without Borders worked with BETC Paris to create the TV spot.
“Content that is produced in a rigorous and honest manner is increasingly being subjected to unfair competition from sponsored content, propaganda, and rumors,” says RSF secretary-general Christophe Deloire. “We cannot remain passive in the face of this threat to the honesty of the public debate and, by extension, to democracy. Reporters Without Borders is taking concrete steps to promote journalistic freedom, independence, and pluralism.”
2018 marks the 25th celebration of World Press Freedom Day. The global theme this year is Keeping Power in Check: Media, Justice and The Rule of Law.
