Crispin Porter Bogusky shocked the advertising agency world 14 years ago when it moved a large percentage of its operations and people from Miami, FL to Boulder, CO. At the time, the agency wanted to give its team members—including Alex Bogusky—the option to live in Colorado.
Now, the agency is on the move again. In July 2021, CPB will move into a new 20,000 square-foot office space currently under construction in the McGregor Square development adjacent to Coors Field in downtown Denver.
This relocation puts the new office about 30 minutes to the south of its current home in Boulder. Many of its staff already live in Denver, which will cut their commute time considerably. If they go into the office to work again.
What surprised me about CPB’s move to Boulder was their choice of office space, or shall we call it what it is—warehouse space. Boulder is a beautiful little city and the agency could have placed themselves in the heart of town. It would have cost a lot of money, but it would have been money well spent.
I don’t believe there’s a leading agency in the business with a more humble front than CPB. Naturally, the humility inside the building registers at another level.
New Location: Lower Downtown, a.k.a. LoDo
“There are lots of great memories and 14 years of CPB history in Boulder, but our future lies in Denver,” says Ryan Skubic, managing director, CPB. “Denver’s diversity and vibrant culture complement our ambitions.” He believes this move will “make life easier and more enjoyable for everyone at CPB and their partners.”
I’ll translate. It’s closer to the airport. It’s closer to entertainment. And it’s a business address.
No Mention of COVID-19
The agency’s new office space won’t come cheap. It’s an investment and a large one at a time when all creative teams are working remotely.
There are no mentions of COVID-19 in this news. Of course, actions always speak louder than words and this action clearly says, the Crispinis will be back in the office (and the local bars and restaurants) by next summer.
The agency, which is now part of MDC Partners, opened its doors in Miami four decades ago but decided to close its office there in 2017.
CPB also has offices in London and São Paulo.
